Christoph Blickling was born in Germany and moved to Australia at the age of ten. He began cello lessons at the age of four. Ever since, he has won prizes at numerous competitions throughout Australia.
After completing his Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University under the guidance of Professor Markus Stocker, Christoph furthered his music education and career in Prague, Czech Republic with Professor Miroslav Petraš. In 2009 Christoph received his Postgraduate Diploma at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar, Germany studying with Professor Tim Stolzenburg.
Also among his activities Christoph has been a member of many ensembles and orchestras including the Staatskapelle Weimar (State Opera Orchestra Weimar, Germany). Christoph has participated in national and international tours and has given concerts both as a soloist and as a chamber musician playing alongside renowned musicians. In addition, he also has a passion for passing on his musical interests to children of all ages. Together with his wife, internationally acclaimed pianist Suzanna Hlinka, Christoph has performed in concerts around Europe and Australia and has released two CDs. Furthermore, Christoph is co-founder and artistic director of Eloquenz Concerts Series. Since 2015, Christoph has been lecturing at the Australian Institute of music in Sydney.
